About Us

The Moss is managed by Kevin Moores who took over from his father John Moores in 2002. The herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus was founded in 1964 by John and is based in Formby, about 16 miles north of Liverpool and within a few miles of the Irish Sea.

The cattle occupy about 143 ha, 354 acres of mostly sandy land. This land makes for rigorous selection and only cattle that consistently perform above breed average may stay in the herd. Moss cattle therefore have the potential to improve on even better land and have bred very well for their new owners both at home and on the international stage.

Perth Hall of Fame

What better endorsement is there than our own Perth Hall of Fame: This includes 13 bulls who between them produced 3 Supreme, 3 Reserve Supreme, 3 Senior and 1 Reserve Senior, 4 Intermediate and 2 Reserve Intermediate, 1 Junior and 1 Reserve Junior champion. Moss cattle, as foundation stock, have spread the Aberdeen-Angus message into Germany, Hungary, Portugal and the Azores.

All of this has contributed to making the Moss one of the most successful and renowned herds in England.
